Member Teriander Posted May 26, 2013 Member Report Share Posted May 26, 2013 Im trying to import an obj into 3D Coat (from 3d Max) and my object gets converted into tris. It was 100% quads in 3D max. What can I do to keep it quads? Im importing via "Per Pixel Painting". None of the settings when selecting my object gives me the option to stop it from converting to tris. I just want to set it up for UV mapping without dealing with tris. Thanks!
Moderator Daniel Posted May 27, 2013 Moderator Report Share Posted May 27, 2013 Does it really gets out of 3dsMax quads-only? Maybe send the obj for inspection to workflow(at)3d-coat.com
Member Teriander Posted May 27, 2013 Author Member Report Share Posted May 27, 2013 I figured out why. Was exporting FBX instead of OBJ. Duh... 3D Coat doesn't seem to like FBX too much. It was also crashing on import if the object had a UV already assigned. Strange bug. But thanks for the reply!
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted May 27, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted May 27, 2013 It should not crash an .obj file (when importing make sure "Keep UV" is the "UV-mapping type").
