New Member warmi Posted August 26, 2013 New Member Report Share Posted August 26, 2013 Hey How do you guys handle subd base objects when sculpting in 3d coat? What I mean is something which was created in 3d max with turbosmooth which then was collapsed and exported with a decent amount of geometry already built in to support sharp edges etc.. In 3d coat I get a decent shape but because of subd , poly distribution is pretty atrocious - very uneven with geo around edges being very dense and the rest being rather sparse which creates problems when sculpting. Is liveclay the only option ? Thanks.
Advanced Member Pix Jigsaw Posted August 27, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 27, 2013 Try going to voxel mode. That should automatically create an even mesh distributed over the object that will be more suitable for sculpting. (you can verify this by looking at the object in wireframe). Once this is done, you can work with the voxel sculpting tools, or go to surface mode and use the surface tools.
