Advanced Member FreezeFrame Posted November 25, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 25, 2013 Hello, I would like to add closed holes to a mesh. What tool is needed? ex. have a closed shere and would like to hollow out the entire center with closed walls.
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted November 25, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted November 25, 2013 Boolean operations in voxel mode are fast. A smaller sphere subtracted from the larger ( right click voxel menu>subtract layer Y from layer X) will make it hollow.

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted November 26, 2013 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 26, 2013 You could also use the VoxLayer Tool > use a selection mode from the E-Panel (hit E key or above the tool panel) > uncheck "Ignore Backfaces" in E-Panel (so you can select all the way through) > select entire object > adjust the parameters in the Tool Options panel, for the VoxLayer tool > Hit ENTER key or APPLY in the Tool Options panel. Should now have a thin shell. This is a good way to create a helmet of some kind. Block it out with a Freeform Primitive > Use the Cutoff tool to trim certain areas > Use the Pose tool to make any further tweaks...as it is pretty much the Modeling Swiss Army Knife in the Voxel room > VoxLayer tool to extract a shell.
