Member RichardDoble Posted January 1, 2014 Member Share Posted January 1, 2014 I bought my copy of 3D-coat on 12/26/13 and I have to admit I fell in-love with it right away. this started from a blob and as I learned the tools, I managed to come up with this, its not that amazing, but I'll get better. thanks for stopping by!

Member silkroadgame Posted January 2, 2014 Member Share Posted January 2, 2014 Your works are really great as you are still a beginner of 3D-Coat!
Taros
Nice first results. Don't fall into the "single object trap" when working with 3D Coat. I strongly recommend: Create individual, movable parts seperately. As often as possible. Don't melt all parts together. Use layers. Of course not every object needs to be created seperately, but consider what should be melted and what better not. Think about animation or rigging, this helps to find the right decision. I am curious what will come in the future from you. Keep on. Happy new year Chris

Member RichardDoble Posted January 2, 2014 Author Member Share Posted January 2, 2014 thank you! I really appreciate it. thank you for the tips! I dont need to make in-game ready models, but I do create seperated parts, I just didn't do it on this one. Happy New Year!

Member lord_quas Posted February 10, 2014 Member Share Posted February 10, 2014 wow, that 3d printed part looks great. Im still trying to find a 3D piece of mine that I want to use as my first printed job but I think im gonna try and get something printed this week after seeing that post. i know shapeways do reasonable costs but I might try and search a local company in Montreal. The character at the top with the life preserver, how many separate pieces is that and whats the polycount? cheers Matt
Member RichardDoble Posted March 6, 2014 Author Member Share Posted March 6, 2014 Neophyte: its 5 pieces, but 'll get back to you on that poly count, since I don't have that file in my new PC. just save up for a form-1 or if you're on a budget a zortrax would be awesome. Im saving up for the form-1. here's a sculpt that I recently 3D printed using my makerbot replicator.

Advanced Member gbball Posted October 3, 2014 Advanced Member Share Posted October 3, 2014 That is cool man! Everything is working great, the only thing I think is missing is a bit more definition in the arms. Maybe a little bit of his alien anatomy? Or maybe some texture? Try the noise tool for a subtle effect. That might help. Nice stuff! And thanks for that 3d printing tutorial.
