Advanced Member GeneralAce55 Posted January 13, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 13, 2014 I am really looking forward to this challenge as well, one thing I would like to ask though is if we can choose a particular event in the winter games or if it has to encompass all of them? Thanks! And congrats on the last contest btw Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk
Advanced Member chingchong Posted January 13, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 13, 2014 You can of course choose one single sports event, e.g. just bobsledding or just ski-jumping

Advanced Member Monkeybrain Posted January 13, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 13, 2014 Yes, it sounds good, I will give my first try here ... 1 1/2 Months is time enough I want to try to made a Icehockey-scene I have only one question, how do you would made a larger goal-net-textile in 3D Coat - using voxels (no alpha Maps) would be made a huge Voxelfile? Without rendering in external 3D Aps?

If a task is more simple to do in another app, dont hesitate to use it, just let us know in your WIP-Posts here. I think i would try it with curves but in surface mode (if to do in 3DC). Winter Games sounds cool. I like this! I will try to enter this ) Sounds good. Looking forward to the entries! Glad you like it . I you have some concepts already just post in here. If there are some regional, unusual, traditional winter sports... those are also welcome, just leave us a short story about it Only make sure to implement 3DCoat Reference in your entries ( Curious with what you guys will came along ). Advanced Member Monkeybrain Posted January 15, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) Hello dear, thats my current WIP of today 17:25 p.m. CET... The IceSkate are made with 3D Coat only, but the (negative-)starshapes in moi3d. So I have now also my own OBJ Star-Shapes. The Goal is done in Moi3d*, but smoothed in 3DCoat and star-substracting in 3DCoat. Okay, don't know, why I didn't tried it with the curve tool : *I did try first in 3DCoat but spheretool with a spline was with my try not very smooth. Hmmm Hope its okay, I will really do most parts in 3DCoat. Edited January 15, 2014 by Monkeybrain

Advanced Member chingchong Posted January 15, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 15, 2014 Looks good Monkeybrain, Try the blobtool for the skate-"blades", like Taros showed in his axe tutorial, because they need some more sharpness. Advanced Member Monkeybrain Posted January 16, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 16, 2014 Yes, I used the blob, but with round edge - nice tool, and the merge tool for the stars (negative brush, with an star shape).

Yes of course That rule seemed to me like a interesting task, to see in how many creative ways a simple guideline can be interpreted. And as a side effect this will be a tribute to that great software Btw: very good start Edited January 16, 2014 by chingchong

Advanced Member chingchong Posted January 20, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Thanks guys for posting @Malo: Nice Progress on the Head @Monkeybrain: You picked a pose already, that means you will not use symmetry.. Good luck. I had a hard time with my Hercules Entry without using symmetry, but it helped somehow for personal progress. The left shoulder looks somehow out of proportion, take a look there. Heres my first WIP-step... As always... Beginning with the head All done in 3DCoat. Aiming a more cartoonish look this time. edit: quick test for icy "crystal 3dcoat-cup" Edited January 20, 2014 by chingchong
