Member D.R. Greenlaw Posted March 11, 2014 Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Hi, I'm trying to move the Pivot for the Spherical mode in the Materials panel. I can enter a value, see the preview, but as soon as I close the Settings panel, the values get reset to 0,0,0. If I change any other values or toggle Show Preview off and on, that may cause the pivot may reset to 0,0,0 as well. Strangely though, I was able to get my values to stick for one session but I'm not sure how I did it. After I quit and relaunched 3D-Coat, the Pivot went back to resetting itself to 0,0,0 whenever I try to change the values or other settings in the Spherical Settings panel. Is this a bug or am I missing something obvious? I really need to use this feature right now so thanks for any helpful info. G. PS., I'm using Beta 4.0.16, 64-bit Cuda GL on Windows 7. Member D.R. Greenlaw Posted March 11, 2014 Author Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Here's an example of what I'm running into. In the first image, I'm offsetting the Pivot by 100.00 along the Spherical X axis to center the image but the value immediately resets to 0 when I click OK. The preview will remain correct but as soon as I change any other option or simply close the panel, the Pivot will jump back to 0,0,0, resulting in what's shown in the second image. There doesn't appear to be any way to make the offset stick, although somehow I managed to make it work for one session. I don't know how I did that and I cannot seem to get it to work correctly again. I checked this on another computer and the problem exists there too. Thanks in advance for any help. G. Member D.R. Greenlaw Posted March 11, 2014 Author Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 BTW, can I install and run version 3.0 on the same machine that has version 4.0? I'm wondering if I need to fall back to that version to be able to do this. G.
Advanced Member polyxo Posted March 11, 2014 Advanced Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 I can't help with your problem but installing V3 won't solve it either - that feature was added after the v4 release.
Member D.R. Greenlaw Posted March 11, 2014 Author Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) Aw, shoot! Just installed version 3.0 and it doesn't support Spherical Mode in the Material panel. G. Member D.R. Greenlaw Posted March 11, 2014 Author Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) I saw your post after posting my previous comment. Thanks for the reply though. Maybe I'll regress to an earlier version of 4 then, although I'm not sure when this problem began. G. Edited March 11, 2014 by D.R. Member D.R. Greenlaw Posted March 11, 2014 Author Member Share Posted March 11, 2014 Here's a temporary solution for anybody else running into this problem: Open Cylindrical mode and enter a value for Pivot. Switch to Spherical mode--the edited value will appear there. You can now change the value for Spherical and it will persist. It's possible that Spherical may break again during the session but if you do the above, all should be good again. At least for a little while. G.
