Advanced Member online offworld Posted March 14, 2014 Advanced Member Share Posted March 14, 2014 Hi Everybody, Been working on my sculpting workflow a bit lately, thought it would be better to create a sketchbook post here for my stuff rather than spam the forum with a new "mini" thread each time I make a new model Currently I'm practicing sculpting a generic male base mesh, here's what I've got so far:

Advanced Member online offworld Posted March 23, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted March 23, 2014 Just did this hand test, found it much more enjoyable than doing a hand with poly modelling... http://3d-coat.com/turntableID=139557947432

Advanced Member online offworld Posted April 1, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted April 1, 2014 Playing around with using voxlayer to quickly create a hair base - easy as pie I used Kato from Steampunk Couture as a reference when I did the face but it looks like I'm going to need a bunch more practice before I can start really capturing the likeness of someone from photos. http://3d-coat.com/turntableID=139632222190
Advanced Member online offworld Posted April 3, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted April 3, 2014 Did a quick clothing test tonight, voxlayer again... will need to add lots of details to look like the reference but for laying down a base it's really nice and quick. http://3d-coat.com/turntableID=139653690452

Advanced Member online offworld Posted April 12, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted April 12, 2014 Oh, cool. I didn't know about that remove ngons feature, thanks Carlosan Have a bit more progress to show too, a little off tangent, but I spent the day learning Marvelous Designer and managed to come up with this for Kato: It's still high poly of course, I'll need to retopo it 3D-Coat, but wow, Marvelous Designer is *amazing*. Fwiw, here's the reference pic I went off (I changed reference to Kato wearing something a little more normal).
Advanced Member gbball Posted April 13, 2014 Advanced Member Share Posted April 13, 2014 Awesome! i've been looking at Marvelous Designer, but I've been putting off trying it out until I have a bit more time. How is the learning curve?
Advanced Member online offworld Posted April 13, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted April 13, 2014 I did that in a day. It was a long day, but a day none the less Biggest problem I had was finding or figuring out clothing patterns. It's pig easy to use but if you put crap patterns in, you'll get crap clothes. The other problem I had was that after 4 or so layers clothes started to get tangled in each other (i.e. the leather jacket and the purple jumper got mixed up with each other on her back). You can sometimes tease this out by pulling on the clothes in realtime in simulate mode, but sometimes you have to grab a problem panel and reset it to an arrangement point. Oh yeah, that's the other thing, a number of the tutes talk about arrangement points. They're built into the built in avatars, but if you import a character of your own you'll have to make them for it (you can do this in marvelous designer). Advanced Member online offworld Posted April 21, 2014 Author Advanced Member Share Posted April 21, 2014 Been working on a UV layout tonight, this is what I've got: It's not too bad, at the very least it gives me lots of nice texel density on the face...
