Advanced Member NinjaTaco Posted April 3, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) I only get rough edges. But I don't want a separate object though. I want a clean extrusion. Edited April 3, 2014 by NinjaTaco

Advanced Member b33nine Posted April 3, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 NinjaTaco, the simple answer is that you need higher resolution. If you have those jaggies, and you don't want them, it means your mesh isn't dense enough. If you are using voxels, the whole layer has to have a higher resolution, if surface you can locally add more resolution with a handful of tools. Advanced Member NinjaTaco Posted April 3, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 3dcoat really needs to just slice the polygons along the frozen sections areas and the push those areas in our out. As of now it doesn't extrude it just pushes in and out.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted April 3, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted April 3, 2014 (edited) Do you mean these type of extrusions in and out... Voxel mode (3rd picture) The first picture is surface mode. You have to carefully choose your alpha in surface mode, It needs a large fallout and plus in the top tool panel, you can increase the falloff more if needed plus you can make your own alphas... Standard alpha I choose for the surface work in first picture I did not use the freeze tool as the e-panel splines work better. 950,000 voxel / polygon object. Opps, I forgot here is another one, It is now the second picture. Use the vox extrude tool in surface mode. In the vox extrude tool panel select the smoothing degree, "0" really sharp edges... Answering the question based upon my understanding of the information given. Edited April 4, 2014 by digman
