Advanced Member FreezeFrame Posted May 25, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 25, 2014 (edited) Hello, just wondering about car, tank, air models in 3D Coat. Any tutorials on this anywhere? Is modeling inside of the vehicles best left for another software such as 3DS Max, Rhino, ............I know some start from low poly, so not sure if there are some successful hard surface modelers in the vehicle areas with 3D Coat... Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted May 25, 2014 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted May 25, 2014 The body of the auto would probably be more easily done with a standard Poly Modeling app, currently. That's because an Auto-body has some very intricate curves/shapes, and a Poly Modeler gives you more control in that regard. But in many areas of the task, Voxel modeling would be just as efficient, if not more so. For one thing, we still can't fully conform the FFD Lattice to an object...prior to deforming the object itself. This would give the user much more control. We also need to have more than just a few presets for number of control points in a lattice. On some objects you may want as many as 10 or so. But only 2 or 3 wide. The next thing we'd need is some kind of a spline deformer, in order to have the control one needs to do an automobile efficiently in 3D Coat. He is a request thread about it: http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15672
Advanced Member FreezeFrame Posted May 26, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 26, 2014 That would be good!! Low poly and that's only 1 spline being used.
