What happened to the option to 'Edit Projection in External Editor'?

The 'Project Through' checkbox and 'Projection scaling' sub-menu are still there, but the actual option seems to be gone.

 

I also agree that the Metallic channel should get an orb up top. It's interesting that there's already an icon for it in the PBR Material Editor, so maybe it's coming?

edit: Speaking of missing features, I was looking for a way to overwrite depth and found this:

The fill tool doesn't feature angle tolerance, so how is it done?

What did you think about Fill Layers like in Substance Painter?

Would it be possible to store the Material in a layer that we could change and modify it on the fly?

I do mean that, but for Depth there's no mode that completely overrides underlying layers. Max.Depth has an effect when your depth is strong enough, but there's no Override.

Additive Depth Painting Issue ?

The current implementation is more like additive and masked. Anyway, one solution, without changing the existing function would be to add an "override" checkbox/radio button next to the additive one (3 radio buttons makes more sense, "additive, masked, override). This would I assume be a pretty easy addition.

I asked Andrew about it a while ago and he has an idea of a new blending mode for depth that would solve this and the way he talked about it, it seemed easy for him to implement. I will remind him about it before 4.5 release if he forget.

I have found an instant crash which happens on two different computers. Crash happens after applying PBR material and then deleting layer. Repro steps - watch video

 

1. Apply one PBR material

2. Apply second PBR material

3. Move model inside PBR Material Preview window

4. Delete layer - CRASH!

Ah, thanks Carlosan and Artman. From the link I posted it sounded like it should've been solved already, but I suppose that was only for the spec/gloss! I'll look forward to that change, it would make layers easier to use for depth.

- Picture on curve supports metalness.

- Picker (V) picks metalness as well.

- Diffecrent crashes fixed.

- Accidnt pop-up of stroke properties window prevented. Now it appears when you will hover mouse for 0.3 sec over the button, not immedately

- Undo in VoxLayer really returns into prev state without leaving new layer

- There is possibility to pick pivot point and axis directions in transfrom tool - http://bit.ly/1t1AqfN

- Corrected cube primitive density problem

- Fixed sticky keys problem (incorrect treating ctrl, alt, shift)

Thanks, Andrew. As for the Transform tool addition....would you please, please make sure to add the same options to all other tools with a standard Transform Gizmo? It gets so frustrating and sometimes confusing having different tools with a Transform Gizmo with different options. Please make them all remain consistent with each other. :good:

Generally it is insered everywhere.

Exception is primitives tool that does same thing in similar way, but a bit dipperenly because a bit different input required.

To Center mass and To Main Axis would be a lifesaver in Pose tool Transform gizmo mode.

Its very difficult to do some operations wihout those 2 functions. Please add if you can.

(it would be even better if it had ALL options that are in transform tool)

Just for my own sanity, is it safe to assume there will be no mac build of 4.5 beta, and to just expect it when the final release of 4.5 comes out?

I mean the beta iteration is so rapid, it seems like the dev in charge of the mac build is just waiting for final release?

Speaking of the Transform tool and this has been submitted as a feature request sometime ago, we need the Transform tool to be able to extrude edges creating more polygons faces in the Retopo room and continue to extrude edges to make polygons faces when you hold down the shift key. Yes, we have an extrude command now for edges but it is cumbersome to use and with auto-snap on the polygons generally do not snap evenly or stay even if auto snap is turned off.

The Transform tool would be great for cylinder type of objects with bends and other uses plus it gives control to the user of how and where to place the polygons.

The idea is to turn off Auto Snap, Use the Transform tool to extrude the polygon edges plus using the transform tool gizmo to turn corners and position the polygons and scaling as needed. Final adjustment could be done with some local snapping. 

This addition would speed up the retopoing process...

In your busy schedule please consider this feature request and if possible add this feature in one of the betas before 4.5 is released.

I would like to ask if there is work done on retopo and autoretopo as well , or only focused on pbr for 4.5.

No, we don't wait for general release and mac/linux beta version is really developed. But there are some problems with shaders compatibility, so there is delay.
