Hi,

I have a high poly model with atlas uv map. The problem is, that some

UV's are overlapping. Is there a way to select overlapped uv's?

There are several hundrets and there is no chance to do it by hand.

Any advice is very appriciated

I do not know how you imported, that is which room you are in for sure, The uv room or the retopo room. Plus I do not know if you want to keep the basic layout and move only the overlapping islands off each other. This kind of information helps a lot in answering a question.

Here is one method...  Left tool bar under Commands. Use PackUV as it will only reposition the uv islands or PackUV2. It will only scale and move your islands for better packing. Both methods will move the overlapping islands off each other.

The feature is in both the retopo room and the uv room.

Other way is to be under the mark seams section in either the retopo room or the uv room.

In the top tool bar make sure uv islands is selected.

If you know on your model which part is associated with the overlapped uv island, then put the brush cursor in the center of a polygon in that area and when the polygon is highlighted, left click your mouse. The entire uv island will be selected and then you can move it in the uv set. You have to be careful though as you can create a seam so the entire polygon much be highlighted before clicking your mouse for correct operation.

Hi Digman,

thanks for posting!

I imported it from with keep uv's (atlas map made in Modo)

and imported it as paint per pixel.

The problem is the polycount. It's about 1,5 Mio Polys, so

many operations mare slow. It's the master model, so I would like

to keep most of the details stored in the polymesh because

of 3d Printing later on.

So I would like to bake over this model from a lower poly model.

But this overlapping UV's are hard to select and move.

I hoped there is a command where 3d coat lets me select them.

Thanks Tom

Please post some pictures...

Your atlas Map in Modo, What the map looks inside the retopo or uv room.

What is the purpose of the model in 3DC?... To paint, remove just the overlapping. Take the high polygon and create a low polygon retopo mesh and bake to that...

Is a texture map / normal map also associated with the high polygon model that you want to keep...

Are there any plans to add marque (whatever tool) option, so more uv clusters can be selecte?

I see that there is a functionality, when you drag mouse inside UV_preview window, that more clusters are selected. Why not adding additional option (default?) to select not just clusters on to top but overlayed (stacked on top of each other) ones as well.

I love 3d coats uv editor, but this one lacking feature is really a big let down :(
