Advanced Member geo_n Posted March 14, 2015 Advanced Member Share Posted March 14, 2015 How much work would it be to just make a new paint room with PBR only workflow? I personally would rather have pbr and non-pbr tools separated and menus, materials, icons context aware when working in either method. And the export method tied to their respective rooms. That way I don't have to remember all the tools and each others quirks hidden and scattered in one room. That's just me though

That's just me though That would just make the app all the more fragmented, which it is already more than it should be. The Tweak Room could be done away with and just add the tools for it, into the Paint room. I don't see what the fuss is about. It just adds more controls/options to what we already there. Don't see the logic splitting those away into a separate room. There really isn't much difference apart from the PBR materials editor and the environment map/gradient map. Please, we already have more requests people are waiting on than Andrew could ever get to in 3-5yrs. Lets not add to that by asking him to split the Paint room up. Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted March 14, 2015 Contributor Share Posted March 14, 2015 So its too much work , maybe a switch option into the paint room , pbr / tradional painting or something?
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted March 14, 2015 Reputable Contributor Share Posted March 14, 2015 So its too much work , maybe a switch option into the paint room , pbr / tradional painting or something? Why can't you do traditional painting in the Paint room now? What's in the way? The same tools that were there before are still there.

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted March 14, 2015 Reputable Contributor Share Posted March 14, 2015 If you are intimidated by all the controls in the PBR Material editor, don't be. You don't need to worry about all the extra controls. They are just there if you need them. Otherwise, to load the traditional flat thumbnails, just create a new material > select the map type (color, depth, gloss) you want to load > choose "From Camera" as the projection type > hit OK and you've got your traditional materials.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted March 14, 2015 Reputable Contributor Share Posted March 14, 2015 Everything else is pretty much the same, except for the background map. To switch from HDR map to gradient backround just go to the camera menu (upper right part of the UI, next to the navigation bar), and choose BACKGROUND > "Use Gradient Background"
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted March 14, 2015 Contributor Share Posted March 14, 2015 What you describe is what i did so far myself , anyway , i guess i will give it a bit more time once i get 4.5 back again. Changed to stable after a couple days of using 4.5 Although i use a lot the pbr workflow in my job , with 3dc i dont , since i am still on the Edu version. Anyway thanks a lot for your lighting fast respond.
Advanced Member geo_n Posted March 15, 2015 Author Advanced Member Share Posted March 15, 2015 Fragmented? I'm thinking more "organized". Having stuff context aware is what's needed. Too many chances for errors here. It doesn't necessarily need to be a separate room strictly speaking. But I would rather not have this stuff hidden away on right click menus. Javis
If you haven't started a Trello card and Mantis report for it yet, that would be good. A personally don't see any issues with it, but I would really prefer a way to make completely user custom rooms, that way users could just make their own rooms as needed with whatever tools for company/team/personal workflows. This would especially be useful for companies and small teams that need to customize tools to their own pipelines.
