x-ray shader

I am a complete noob with the 3d coat shader system, pbr and otherwise. I would like to know if it might be possible to produce an x-ray(ish) shader that could be applied to bone models. Attached is a version out of Blender that is basically what I am looking for.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated,

Ben

I am looking for this type of shader or material for use in image rendering. The plan for the image is to portray bone elements as x-rays while muscle elements are portrayed as solid PBR materials. Is it possible to get this kind of color ramp effect with any type of shader in 3dc? I was hoping to produce the image all within 3dc but if it seems a stretch I can always composite with other software.

Thanks,
