Member Kappikarpfen Posted May 20, 2015 Member Report Share Posted May 20, 2015 Hey, is it possible to export severel meshes in one .fbx file? I need it for lods in UE4. Does every mesh need his own UV ?
Advanced Member Solution arumiat Posted May 20, 2015 Advanced Member Solution Report Share Posted May 20, 2015 Yes, you can export a single fbx with multiple meshes, in Unity the multiple meshes show up as children. You can use a single UV map for multiple meshes

Member Kappikarpfen Posted May 23, 2015 Author Member Report Share Posted May 23, 2015 So i modeled another asset with dem lods, but i cant get it exported as .fbx until now. How is the procedure to export .fbx with different meshes in retoporoom ?
Advanced Member arumiat Posted May 23, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 23, 2015 Hmm, the export menu in the retopo room I've not used. If you go into the paint room then File -> Export objects & textures what happens? Otherwise someone else will probably know
Member Kappikarpfen Posted May 23, 2015 Author Member Report Share Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) I have three meshes in my retoporoom. I normally export after painting in paintroom with File -> Export objects... but in the UE4 editor the childs dont show up, if i pull down the .fbx. Do they show up in Unity, after you exported like this with just severell retopogroups (meshes) in retoporoom? But the exported Filesize of the .fbx is clearly bigger then one single mesh, maybe i do some mistakes at importing in UE4. Advanced Member arumiat Posted May 23, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) That's odd. Yes when I export from the paint room I specify the name of the fbx and this imports as a single 'empty' gameObject into Unity that then has multiple children with mesh renderer components attached to each. The same thing happens with Marmoset TB, what happens if you open it in there? Edited May 23, 2015 by arumiat
Member Kappikarpfen Posted May 28, 2015 Author Member Report Share Posted May 28, 2015 In Keyshot its all fine... i surely do some mistakes at importing in Unreal, in some days iam at the point where it has to work. I will report where my mistake was.
