New Member sumesh chammancheri Posted November 15, 2015 New Member Report Share Posted November 15, 2015 Hi, I'm retopologizing a sculpt that i did in zbrush. Initially everything works fine, but when i saved and reopened the file, the "move vertices" tool stops working. When i click on vertex and try to move it just snaps to wherever i click and just does not allow me to move it freely. I'm using the latest version of the 3dCoat 4.5.16. It only happens if i close the 3d coat and reopen the file. This is seriously driving me nuts, Please Help!!

Whenever I get weird, unexplainable behavior, I close the app > delete the OPTIONS.XML file in the MyDocs/3D Coat 4.5 directory > then reinstall the latest build (it's on 4.5.22 now) > re-open the app. Once in a while that file gets buggered up and when it does, it can exhibit bug-like behavior. If that doesn't help, can you screen record this happening, so we can see if it's something to do with the underlying mesh or some incorrect setting. It's often times something very small, that's over looked.
Carlosan
Hi ! Are you working in the right UVset ? Or RetopoGroup ?
New Member sumesh chammancheri Posted November 16, 2015 Author New Member Report Share Posted November 16, 2015 Yeah....I even did a re-install but it still didnt work and yes its on the right uvSet. Only workaround i found was to export the retopo mesh, delete it from the file, and re-import. This way it works till the next time i reopen the file. Below is a link to screen capture(video-7.9mb) of it happening, wasn't allowing me upload the file over here as some permission issues. Please have a look and thanks a lot for your response. Cheers! https://www.dropbox.com/s/fd73vd1rnvaaa2c/16-11-2015_Move_Vertices_Error_converted.mp4?dl=
Carlosan
Could you please try changing this setting ?
Reputable Contributor digman Posted November 16, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) That is a bug I think you found. I was able to reproduce the problem. If testing this yourself do in on a file that you do not want to use. My Test: I had a baked model in the paint room. I have the retopo mesh in the retopo room and the of course the model shows up in the UV room. Yes normally you delete the model in the paint room before reworking the mesh in retopo room but this was testing for the problem. Read the below to understand the test... I have never used the Snap to low polygon vertices before. Please inform me on it official use. I used it to reproduce the problem in my testings. In the retopo room, I enabled under the View menu " Snap to low polygon vertices" This created the same behavior as shown in the users video. I then disabled "Snap to low polygon vertices, under the view menu in retopo room. Low polygon vertice snapping did not turn off but still continued. Next I hid the model in the paint room. Same problem. Next I deleted the low polygon model in the paint room. Same problem. I then closed the file without saving and Snap to low polygon vertices is still disabled. Reopened the file, snap to low polygon vertices is still disabled, same problem as shown in the video continues. I think the problem is with the "snap to low polygon vertices tool"... I do not know what the user has or had in the paint room at anytime in the file he has the problem with. It is possible that he had a prior model there but deleted it. I not not have that information, I only found a way to reproduce what I was seeing in his video. It seems that the Tool is not really turning itself off even when you disable it plus it remembers the baked model's data when hiding the model or deleting it from the paint room. The problem contuines when you reopen the same file though you did not save the 3DC file. If there as been no baked model at anytime in paint room the problem does not occur if you enable "Snap to low polygon vertices" There has been no prior baked model data... The above is the best I could come up with and I know it sound somewhat confusing... Edited November 16, 2015 by digman
