Member SebastianLeon Posted March 23, 2016 Member Report Share Posted March 23, 2016 Hi guys, I've recently started using c4d for rendering my environments and I was wondering if anyone knew how to reduce the polycount of my models in 3dCoat before exporting? I know you can decimate but it loses ALOT of edge quality and perhaps theres another way? I tried "make a shell" and it just doubled in size.. (???) Any help would be much appreciated! Contributor Tony Nemo Posted March 23, 2016 Contributor Report Share Posted March 23, 2016 Try Autopo from the right-click menu, Experiment to get your preferred polycount.
Advanced Member arumiat Posted March 27, 2016 Advanced Member Report Share Posted March 27, 2016 Make a shell basically gives an inner surface so that will bring the poly count up. The decimate routine maintains edges very well, - try doing it by 50% each time rather than going straight for 90% or whatever, I've gotten better results that way Lowest poly count + best detail I imagine will require autopo & baking normal maps
