Member angecroft Posted May 27, 2016 Member Report Share Posted May 27, 2016 Hi ! I would like to make the train in the Syberia game. I'm a beginner with 3D Coat. I've started some basic shapes on 3D Coat but I'm not satisfied with the result for now ... I struggle to have nice and smooth shapes so no screenshots of it today
Moderator Daniel Posted May 27, 2016 Moderator Report Share Posted May 27, 2016 Hi and welcome! What tools do you use for basic shapes?
Member angecroft Posted May 27, 2016 Author Member Report Share Posted May 27, 2016 On my first try I used a cube and then cut the primitive but from hard surfaces I found that was difficult to turn the result into something smoother. So now I started from scratch again with the Lathe primitive and I modify it with the pose tool.
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted May 27, 2016 Contributor Report Share Posted May 27, 2016 For a 3D Coat "rookie" this is so promising , dont give up .

I know I'm already learning but not as fast as I want and I don't have the result that I want. It's a bit demoralizing, but I have to continue anyway

Member BubbaDaCaveman Posted June 8, 2016 Member Report Share Posted June 8, 2016 Hi Angecroft, don't be upset about your work. Everyone struggles at first, just keep practicing and observe the things around you. And very soon you will develop your artistic sense. Above all be happy and have fun when you are working on a sculpt or anything related to art, because I have realized when I am in a not so good mood I fail miserably Cheers.

Moderator Daniel Posted June 14, 2016 Moderator Report Share Posted June 14, 2016 i would do the hard-surface parts WITHOUT touching it with brushes! Just primitives, cutting, booleans, etc Otherwise it looks not so good

Member BubbaDaCaveman Posted June 20, 2016 Member Report Share Posted June 20, 2016 Hi angecroft you might want to check these tutorial videos from Gumroad https://gumroad.com/l/kOzAf They are very helpful for starters. The videos are not for 3D Coat but rather how to create complex looking forms from very basic shapes, I am sure they will help you. Cheers.
