Member alonzo Posted May 4, 2016 Member Share Posted May 4, 2016 Hi, there is a little error in the starting date. The newsletter, the contest site ( http://3dcoat.com/community/contest/ ) and this thread title are saying that it's starting on the 10th May and ending 10th July, but in your terms text it says "May 15- July 15". Maybe you should correct that Greetings Allan
Advanced Member Gary Dave Posted May 4, 2016 Advanced Member Share Posted May 4, 2016 hah, yeah the two date ranges is a little odd. Good stuff though, I hope this gets more people on the trial versions, and ultimately more people using 3dc.
New Member Rafmorais Posted May 4, 2016 New Member Share Posted May 4, 2016 That sounds awesome. Does The 30 day trial includes all features? Can I use another software for Mdeol/Sculpt and then Use 3D-Coat for Retopology, Uvw, Texture Painting and Final Render? I think that I might give it a try! =D
New Member ajf412 Posted May 5, 2016 New Member Share Posted May 5, 2016 I am excited to hear what the theme will be. =) Would be nice to be able to add this to my resume. =)

You can make polygonal modeling in other 3D software, but if you want to do sculpting, you must do it in 3D-Coat. Good luck and stay tuned! Advanced Member jene Posted May 10, 2016 Advanced Member Share Posted May 10, 2016 I'm going to participate it. I'm highly motivated. I have questions. it's image size and number of images. "image longest size should not be less than 1920px" 600 x 400 px = Good or Bad? 1920 x 400 px = Good or Bad? 400 x 1920 px = Good or Bad? 2048 x 400 px = Good or Bad? 400 x 2048 px = Good or Bad? 2048 x 2048 px = Good or Bad? and, How many images can I make? one person one image? or can I submit a lot of images? You can make several images if you wish. Longest size means horizontal for landscape orientation and vertical for portrait orientation. Best proportions are 16:10, 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, 1:1 - I would stick to those (approximately)

I only asked because creating a high poly model and a scene would be more time consuming than a low poly and go straight to texturing and wothout any baking needed Thanks! Advanced Member Gary Dave Posted May 10, 2016 Advanced Member Share Posted May 10, 2016 Is it worth doing a quick youtube video to advertise the competition? There might be subscribers to the channel who don't check the forums. (as an aside, I don't get emails from 3dc, so even I wouldn't have known about it if not for the forums)
New Member Oscarini Posted May 10, 2016 New Member Share Posted May 10, 2016 I need more info on those:3. The model should be sculpted and textured in 3D-Coat. 4. Poly-modeled in other 3D modeling software is allowed. If I get correct, I can poly-model my vehicle for example in Maya, but must finish it sculpting in 3D-Coat + texturing too? There is no way to model/sculpt in other apps, but make textures in 3D-Coat for this competition, right?

Texturing must be done in 3D-Coat. If you need to sculpt, then sculpting also must be done in 3D-Coat. Good luck!
