Member Marcelo Teixeira Posted April 21, 2017 Member Report Share Posted April 21, 2017 Hi people, I just painted some textures with normal maps and others layers in one Genesis 3 Female and now I want to repaint it in Genesis 3 Male, how can I copy all those layers over the new object? Contributor ajz3d Posted April 23, 2017 Contributor Report Share Posted April 23, 2017 Try File->Import->Replace Geometry.
Member Marcelo Teixeira Posted April 23, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted April 23, 2017 Hi ajz3d, worked almost as expected, dont know why but it changes torso for face and vice versa... I will try more options maybe breaking the file in less layers, but helped a lot. Thanks
Contributor ajz3d Posted April 23, 2017 Contributor Report Share Posted April 23, 2017 (edited) Your new model should have similar UV coordinates to the original one. Perhaps in your new model UV island of the head lies in place of the torso, or the other way around. You might try to edit UVs of the male character before replacing the geometry, so that they are similar to the original female model. Member Marcelo Teixeira Posted April 23, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted April 23, 2017 Looks that is the a problem in the groups order. Look the attached image. Theres a way to reorder the groups?
Contributor ajz3d Posted April 23, 2017 Contributor Report Share Posted April 23, 2017 Okay, so what you could try is to: 1) Check the "Import tiles as UV sets". 2) If the above doesn't help, you might try switching places of Face and Torso UVs along U in an external DCC app. This should enforce the correct order of UV tiles. Import the modified file with 1) checked and unchecked just to be sure.
Member Marcelo Teixeira Posted April 24, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted April 24, 2017 Me again... tiles as UV didnt work I dont know if I understood very well what you said but I loaded the model in UVMapper (classic version) and changed the tiles position torso where the face are and vice versa, and the groups are in the same place after import to 3DCoat again... Member Marcelo Teixeira Posted April 28, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted April 28, 2017 Stilll no glue about that... anybody more ideas?
Contributor ajz3d Posted May 1, 2017 Contributor Report Share Posted May 1, 2017 Unfortunately, I'm all out of ideas. Have you tried notifying 3D-Coat's support about this issue?
Member Marcelo Teixeira Posted May 1, 2017 Author Member Report Share Posted May 1, 2017 I will do that, but just found a way. Hexagon Modeler from DAZ3D let me reorder the groups just drag and drop. Thanks for the help anyway.
Member unrealone Posted March 3, 2018 Member Report Share Posted March 3, 2018 How to copy all layers painted in one object to another? How to do this?
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted March 5, 2018 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted March 5, 2018 The thing to remember when using the Texture Baking tool is, it needs to be of similar shape. That was mentioned in the video earlier in this thread. You cannot just bake all textures onto a model that is quite a bit different in shape. Why? Because it is using an inner and outer baking cage (internally) to bake from one mesh to the other. So, baking textures from a male figure to a female mesh probably will not work right. Member Varlam Posted March 21, 2019 Member Report Share Posted March 21, 2019 (edited) I have baked albedo color. How can I bake normal ?3dcoat baking to the old UV set, how can I change paint object. I deleted old paint objects from scene, but there is no proper normal after baking to the new one, it is ignored.
