Member Kierab Posted September 6, 2017 Member Share Posted September 6, 2017 Hi all, it's me again LOL. I was using auto retopo on an item and painted out the parts where i wanted extra density. Somehow in the process i hit escape and the window closed so I did it again. The retop worked great but now my model has bright red hoofs because the places i colored for extra density are "stuck" in red yellow and blue (like you see with the pose tool when something is selected). i have tried every clear button i can find, checked all my layers (even with all layers turned off i am stuck with the colors). I have been fighting with this for ages now and I am well and truly stuck. Has this happened to anyone else? How do I get rid of the selection? https://gyazo.com/d323e92f2c2255dc6abf13150f34a656 Ok, just out of paranoia, I quit 3DC and opened the file again, now the hoofs are blueish black instead of red, but they are definitely NOT letting go of what I painted for retopo density. Member Kierab Posted September 6, 2017 Author Member Share Posted September 6, 2017 This is nuts, I am completely stuck, i even went through and deleted ALL paint layers and reset the shader to something else. The black marks persist. I am trying an export to maya, with new texture and back in desperation but it doesnt seem to want to import back in properly (probably too high polycount). I need to get this model done but I cannot because the black is on top of ANY new paint layer I try to add. I tried retopo again just in case it would clean up after itself. No luck. Member Kierab Posted September 6, 2017 Author Member Share Posted September 6, 2017 Ok, after a few issues i managed to get the model out to maya, changed the texture to a phong (no idea if that is the right one but oh well) and re-imported it back into 3DC - the marks are gone. Have I found a bug? Is there some less painful way I could have solved this issue?
Carlosan
When you paint extra-density, you are actually using the freeze command to highlight areas. Use Ctrl+D to unfreeze all.
Member Kierab Posted September 6, 2017 Author Member Share Posted September 6, 2017 I went back to the old file and tried and and sure enough, that did the trick. It would not have occurred to me that those bits were frozen. Thanks, at least if it happens again I know what to do. :-)
