[Solved] Weirdness after baking

I am having a black section that appears on the paint object and the normal - making it completely impossible to use my model or to take it over into substance to work on it either. 

Black section.png: The created paint object - note the black section which does not appear to correspond to *anything* in the high poly or retopo object

Retopo.png This shows the retopo object - it is covering just fine, no bits sticking out.  The selected UV is for the log in question.  Everything *appears* to be laid out correctly and shows fine.  notice that the black part does not even appear to coorespond to the edges on the retopo object.  I just cannot find any reason for this black section.

Paintroom is fine.png The model in the paint room (with paint objects and topo objects shut off) looks fine.

Any idea what could be causing this or how I go about fixing it?

I did try adjusting the cage size for rebaking, higher or lower made no difference at all.
