Advanced Member Tom K Posted December 16, 2017 Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 16, 2017 http://static.lightwave3d.com/marketing/lightwave_2018/lightwave_2018_release_date.html LightWave 2018 features a completely re-written shading, lighting and rendering architecture. The new PBR engine allows you to create images with greater realism and accuracy, yet remains intuitive to use.

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted December 19, 2017 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted December 19, 2017 I don't know that it will attract too many users from outside the Lightwave community, but it's good to know there is still a pulse, when it was looking like it was deadware. It's a pretty nice feature list, though and overall, it does have some advantages. Such as the Genoma rigging toolset. It seems nicer than what comes with Blender or Modo. And the material system was already better than Modo's. To attract buyers from outside their community, it appears that they have an Indie version for $499. Will be interesting to see if that helps them any.
