pattern holes in mesh

Hi,

New here, I love 3dCoat, am completely blown away by it. I was wondering if there was a way to create something like what is mentioned in the video below

 

 

I guess if you could cut holes using a texture or paint objects on a mesh in a uniform way and then do a boolean.

Dunoo, I am very curious about this.

Yes the texturing solution is surely possible, and there are ways to do this on a polygon model in external packages. I just wanted to know if I wanted to duplicate an object of any shape on other object in an uniform way, is there a way to do it inside 3dCoat... But I guess you will need something like uvs for that.
