Member Haunted Posted February 16, 2018 Member Share Posted February 16, 2018 (edited) I am using the Fill Whole Layer option to apply a base material to a model. But it looks different from the preview window. Using the Fill Tool, the result looks much better and really close to the preview window. See here: What am I doing wrong?! Using Version 4.8.10 (DX64) Edited February 16, 2018 by Haunted
Reputable Contributor digman Posted February 17, 2018 Reputable Contributor Share Posted February 17, 2018 I did several test and found no difference using version 4.8.10 "OpenGL or DX64. Is it possible you have color tolerance selected in the fill bucket tool panel?
Member Haunted Posted February 17, 2018 Author Member Share Posted February 17, 2018 (edited) Hey, no, it was/is not checked. I recorded a video of this issue: https://youtu.be/5zPbz54iXbU Sorry for the music Edited February 17, 2018 by Haunted
Reputable Contributor digman Posted February 17, 2018 Reputable Contributor Share Posted February 17, 2018 Watched the video... I think I see the problem. Videos do help... You are on the brush tool and opacity is set at 77%. When you right click on the layer and choose fill whole layer it only fills up to the opacity percentage. Which you switch to the bucket fill, the opacity is set a 100% The brush and bucket fill can have their own separate settings on all 3 channels. I tested and when opacity is set at 100% for the brush tool (right clicking a layer and fill whole layer )and the bucket fill tool is set for 100% the result is the same. I normally use the layer in the bucket fill tool panel to avoid not noticing the change in settings, keeping my brush settings separate from my bucket fill settings. That depends upon the model or workflow too and is also an artist call.
