New Member Montrose Posted August 6, 2018 New Member Report Share Posted August 6, 2018 Just bought the software. Watched hours of tutorials. Cannot find a way to spin edges, searches yielded nothing. This is a must have for any professional modeler. Seems very strange this is not an easily accessed tool. philnolan3d
Do you mean in the retopo room? I don't believe there is a way. You can of course just delete the edge and re-add it with the Add/Split Edges tool.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 6, 2018 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 6, 2018 The Retopo Workspace is the Low Poly Modeling Environment. Once you have an edge selected, if you need to spin it, click ROTATE CW or ROTATE CCW (clockwise/counter clockwise). You can see it later in the following video. philnolan3d
Ah that's right I forgot that was there. Honestly as a professional modeler I've never found a need for that tool.
New Member Montrose Posted August 6, 2018 Author New Member Report Share Posted August 6, 2018 Actually I found it, it is called "rotate", in some of the older documentation, found through google, it called "spin" specifically, thus is hard to find for a noob one day in. Much faster than Add/Split Edges tool method. I am really surprised this also did not make it into the first few intro videos on YouTube playlists I tried, nor on Plural site. If you, as a professional modeler, have never uses this "spin" or "rotate" function in any of the packages, you should try it, it will speed up your workflow, edge-flow and efficiency on organics. Maybe, I should not be trying to learn a new software on a deadline, makes me grumpy, sorry about that.
philnolan3d
Oh yes I know what it is. In fact there used to be an old forum called SpinQuad named after the version in LightWave. I just don't find it useful in my personal workflow. Glad you found it though.

Well, it's covered in the Quick Start playlist (3DCoat Youtube Channel), covering that section of the Retopo Workspace's Tool panel (Commands Section), so it's there. And here is another one that is easily found on the same channel, if you search the channel for ROTATE:
