Advanced Member arumiat Posted November 17, 2018 Advanced Member Share Posted November 17, 2018 In a recent print I tried out the 3DC joint creation tool to see if I was able to use it to connect pieces of my print together. I've attached some pics of the kind of joints I tried as this was the first time. The prints were done in nylon12 on an industrial printer by a bureau. Unfortunately none of the joints have any friction in them, if trying to attach the pieces they just fall off. I wonder if the print quality is too fine, - the joint tool is made for a lower print resolution (which will increase friction perhaps?) Would be great to get some tips if anyone has used the joint tool successfully.

Advanced Member arumiat Posted December 13, 2018 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 13, 2018 (edited) A question @Oleg_Shapo, so I don't need to redo the joints, just export the exact same model with that setting off? Advanced Member arumiat Posted December 13, 2018 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 13, 2018 Also @Oleg_Shapo, when I try export with the 'Export for 3D printing' item in the file menu, rather than the normal export item/menu, nothing seems to get exported. I get an almost empty file. Any advice? Recording #621.mp4

Oleg Shapov
Your object is too small. Try to scale it and everything will turn out.
Advanced Member arumiat Posted December 18, 2018 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 18, 2018 (edited) The scale is preventing the export @Oleg_Shapo ? It's a slight issue as this is the correct real-world size that it needs to be printed at Edited December 18, 2018 by arumiat

Advanced Member arumiat Posted December 20, 2018 Author Advanced Member Share Posted December 20, 2018 Hi @Oleg_Shapo, I scaled up so that the pieces are approximately 2cm according to 3DC scale. If I export as an stl using normal export it comes out fine: When I use the export for 3D printing menu it comes out like this: Are you sure the tool works as expected? I am getting the same results as @arumiat when I export some models for 3d printing. They look great and have a lot of resolution in the sculpting window, but when opening them they look like melted wax. In Dec 2018 it was noted that it was sent to support, but I do not see where it was fixed or extra steps to take. Can someone help me to correct this? Member Archester Posted April 10, 2020 Member Share Posted April 10, 2020 Hi there, same problem here. When exporting for 3D printing the solids turn in low-poly objects. How can I solve this problem?
