Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 4, 2018 Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 4, 2018 I posted elsewhere for this. But realize I should have posted it here. I simply find the icon for perspective and orthographic too similar. And often have a hard time discern which view I'm in. Can a new icon be created? Carlosan
Hello Check inside the folder C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4\textures\dark\ Navigation.tga can be modified with any new created icon. Hope this help.

Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 5, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 5, 2018 I looked at the "Navigation.tga" in Photoshop and below is what I saw. I do not see any of the navigation icons. I converted the file to a JPG so I could upload it here. Am I missing something?
Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 5, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 5, 2018 (edited) I did find a Navigation.tga that seems more like what you meant. It's in directory C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\icons" Again I converted from TGA to JPG and uploaded here. Is this what you meant? If so, I still can't tell the difference between the ortho and the perspective icons? Which on is the ortho? They just look to similar to me... Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 5, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 5, 2018 I see both icons in the image I posted. BUT I really don't know which is which. They simply look too similar. Which icon is the orthographic one?
Carlosan
Ortho dont have cords distortion
Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 5, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 5, 2018 To my 64 year old eyes they both look the same...:-) I replaced the icons in the TGA file with a P and O using Photoshop. Saved them as a TGA file in folder "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\icons" after backing up the original Navigation.TGA file. Yet the icons remain unchanged when I launch 3DC. I've verified the Naviation.TGA does indeed have the "O" and "P" by re-opening in Photoshop. Navigation.tga
Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 5, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 5, 2018 I now deleted the "Navigation.TGA" from "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\icons" and I still get the old icons. Perhaps folder "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\icons" is not where 3DC gets the icons from?
Carlosan
Try here C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4\textures\light or C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4\textures\dark
Carlosan
Colorize will be an option too. Navigation.tga
Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 6, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 6, 2018 As I've posted prior, I've looked in both "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\light" "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\dark"
Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 6, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 6, 2018 And my Navigation.tga looks like below. The Navigation you reference appears in "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\icons" on my computer. Which I've now changed to look below with a P over the perspective icon and an O over the Orthographic icon. And even though the old TGA file has been overwritten, it still displays the original Perspective and Ortho icons in 3DC. Which is very annoying as I have a very hard time telling the difference between the two.
Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 6, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 6, 2018 4 hours ago, Carlosan said: Try here C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4\textures\light or C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4\textures\dark I see that message. It does not assist in telling which mode you are in or which icon is Perspective or Ortho. I can not be more clear. The TWO icons are too similar. My eyesight is not as sharp as it was when I was in my 20s, 30s, 40s or even 50s.
Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 6, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 6, 2018 (edited) I also copied the red/green file Carlosan created to my folders "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\light" "C:\Program Files\3D-Coat-V4.8.25\textures\dark" And tried both the dark and light themes. Nothing changed. However when I now look into those folders Carlosan's file now looks like this... So what am I doing wrong? Carlosan
I'm sorry, but I have no idea what is wrong, everything seems fine. Please better to ask directly Andrew Shpagin for this issue at support@3dcoat.com

Andrew Shpagin
Photoshop works badly with TGA files with Alphas. Use Paint.net to modify the alpha. You should modify both Textures\dark\Navigation.tga Textures\light\Navigation.tga

Advanced Member kenmo Posted December 7, 2018 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 7, 2018 Installed Paint.net and Wow...worked... Never knew Photoshop had this TGA problem... I use Photoshop/Lightroom 90% of the time when my computer is powered on... I also have ArtRage 5 & Corel Painter 2019 but did not try them on the TGA. Cheers and many thanks to Andrew & Carlosan...
