New Member A2020 Posted January 3, 2019 New Member Report Share Posted January 3, 2019 So I have a question, I was trying to do this in Blender, but then I find out 3DCoat and decided to give it a try to see if it would make this any easier. The idea is that I have a model with some curves on it and I want different curves fragments to unwrap as square islands, that way the texture deforms and follows the contour of the object. You can see on the attached image: On Top: Blender - After some vertices alignment and some tweaking it kinda works, but it's not an easy process. On Bottom: 3DCoat - Not to mention that I created more islands, but to illustrate the point it works, that's where I'm at. Problem been that I'm not even sure I can turn those islands into rectangular shapes. Is there any way to do it? Thanks in advance.
New Member InternetFriend Posted January 3, 2019 New Member Report Share Posted January 3, 2019 I don't know about 3D Coat but in Blender you can download the free TexTools addon and use the Rectify function to do this. http://renderhjs.net/textools/blender/
New Member A2020 Posted January 3, 2019 Author New Member Report Share Posted January 3, 2019 Thanks I will give that one a try. I tried another addon that also works to enhance the UV Unwrap, but it wasn't working correctly on my model. Thanks for the feedback, will check that and see how it goes. Advanced Member Dmitry Bedrik Posted January 3, 2019 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 3, 2019 Use Blender. Open the window with yuv. Arrange the vertices on the scan so that you get a rectangle. Select it. Press the space bar. Type ""follow active quads"".
Carlosan
This feature was added on latest version 15.03.2019 4.8.35 - Possibility to unwrap stripe-like UV islands into straight lines. Use "UV->Selected->To Stripe".
