Member Shrike Posted August 14, 2019 Member Report Share Posted August 14, 2019 (edited) Hey So apparently there was a Steam update When unwrapping all my edges are full of these Pink lines and they hide my edge seams, making it very confusing and tedious to unwrap as I just click by guess. How do I disable those? Edited August 14, 2019 by Shrike
Carlosan
Hi The edges that show up pink, are indicating that they are sharp.
Member Shrike Posted August 14, 2019 Author Member Report Share Posted August 14, 2019 (edited) do I understand this right that showing cuts is gone and this replaces that? Is 3D coat now automatically making UV seams sharp? It seems like any cut I make automatically gives a pink line If that is the new way, then there should be a button to remove all sharp edges, like you can clear all seams and one to set sharp edges to UV seams, like it is possible in the import settings. Advanced Member Innovine Posted August 14, 2019 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 14, 2019 You can select all edges and choose Clear Sharp, if that's your goal. I can't say why they are pink now, and not before. Models I import from blender frequently have this.
New Member fabriciolima Posted August 28, 2019 New Member Report Share Posted August 28, 2019 I am encountering the same problem since last update I am trying anything that I can, to disable those pink edges, since they make it extremely difficult to know where I am cutting the seams and where I am not cutting... Can someone please help me, how to disable this for good? Thanks :)

Member Shift Studio Posted September 9, 2019 Member Report Share Posted September 9, 2019 I'm just adding that I'm encountering these pink edges too... and they shouldn't be sharp in my case. --shift studio.
Advanced Member Innovine Posted September 10, 2019 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 10, 2019 Even when they should be there, the seams should not be hidden by them.
Featured Comment Andrew Shpagin Posted October 12, 2019 Featured Comment Report Share Posted October 12, 2019 Ok, in next build edges will be marked in different 3 colors to prevent this situation.
New Member flo0ster Posted February 19, 2020 New Member Report Share Posted February 19, 2020 Are there any news on this topic? I also experience hard edges everywhere. And they are overlaying the seems. So it is almost impossible to unwrap. Tried to change the color, but its not working. Is there any way to hide sharpend edges? Carlosan
Please share this model (or any other showing same issue) to help the development team to fix it. I am using 4.9.56 and cant replicate this issue. Thx
Member Dextra Visual Posted December 18, 2020 Member Report Share Posted December 18, 2020 Is the clear sharp in Retopo only? I don't use retopo. There really needs to be a clear sharp in the UV room. Unwrapping is impossible if the model is fairly complex. I am using an old version of 3dcoat to unwrap the models and then opening the saved file again in the latest version so I can carry on working. Many thanks
Advanced Member Featured Comment pickers Posted December 20, 2020 Advanced Member Featured Comment Report Share Posted December 20, 2020 retopo room>> - "select all faces of this layer" command in the bottom right - F3 (to select edges) - Selected >> Clear sharp (left panel)
Member Dextra Visual Posted December 24, 2020 Member Report Share Posted December 24, 2020 Hi Pickers, thanks for the reply. I tried the retopo room trick but when I go back to the UV room, there is still sharp edges. Also, the paint room uvs now don't match the retopo room uvs. I don't use or need the retopo room and these extra steps and hoops to clear sharp edges in the UV room seems like a workflow regression in a package that deals with uv mapping. Older versions didn't place sharp edges automatically on importing from blender. It was the great uv room unwrapping that made me pick 3dcoat over substance painter as it reduced workflow steps. Now I am unwrapping in blender again so the advantage of 3dcoat over substance is gone. Basically, the UV room just needs a delete sharp option. Or at least let the edge loop ignore the sharp edges so I don't have to select hundreds of edges one by one when making seams. Sorry for the rant.
