Why is certain geo not recognized?

Need to UV two pieces. One is a cylinder(s), which 3D coat see's and applies a checkered pattern. The other,  some rectangular cube-4-sides, no complicated geo. 3D coat shows this geo as transparent and shows nothing in the UV Preview window.

Thought it might be flipped normals. Nope. Tried flipping in both 3D coat and ZBrush.

Never had this issue before and so far I'm stumped.

Pic attached. This is directly after the import.
