Quick "edge loop" curves around cylindrical objects?

Hey... so Mudbox has a quick curve function where you just draw a line and it automatically creates a complete curve around the geometry (like for ex if you want a perfectly straight curve loop around a cylinder or sphere, you only need to draw a straight line and it will wrap around it automatically). Is there something like this in 3d coat?

Practical example is if i want to wrap a chain around an arm. I know i can manually do this by adding curve points around the arm.... but its currently a bit time consuming and not very precise to have to manually draw the curve via a bunch of individual points around the arm - is there a quicker/easier way to do this?

Thanks in advance.
