Advanced Member pickers Posted October 28, 2020 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 28, 2020 How accurate are the colors in paint room? I have tried to bring a character over to unreal after painting it, and the colors looked off by a mile. Is there a scene setting, where i could used in order to paint colors accurately? Member EmperorHamHam Posted October 28, 2020 Member Report Share Posted October 28, 2020 Hi there Pickers, Did you try the option to switch to GGX Burley 12 (UE4) under the view tab? That may help you with your colours and under export objects and textures there is an Unreal 4 preset. Maybe try that?
Reputable Contributor digman Posted October 29, 2020 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted October 29, 2020 I have no problem with 3DC to Unreal Do not put the roughness map in the Metallic map's Alpha channel. I keep it separate unless I am channel packing. In Unreal make sure you convert the Metallic and Roughness maps to linear before hooking them up to their proper inputs in the material. Make sure in 3DC you are in the Metallic / Roughness workflow Use the Unreal exporter in the export panel or manually select your maps for export by deselecting the export constructor but keeping it for Unreal. Do what EmperorHamHam said.
Advanced Member pickers Posted October 29, 2020 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 29, 2020 The view setting for UE4 in 3d coat doesnt seem to do much. The scene in UE4 is closely matched to being neutral. As you can see the head is not exactly closely matched in color.
Advanced Member pickers Posted October 29, 2020 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 29, 2020 I have been doing MRAO packing and using it as UE4 linear color workflow. Usually i am not fussy about colors but this time round, i am doing for skin tone so that part is pretty critical.
Carlosan
If the UE4 shader have SSS, you need to create a SSS inside 3DC to match colors. And use View > Flat shade to test it before export.
