philnolan3d
Here's something that I've never figured out how to do in 3DC. Sculpting a pattern around an object without having a "seam". A perfect example is Spider-Man's costume, there's a hex pattern that wraps all the way around his torso and arms. You could do that with a stencil in cubic mode but it leaves a blurry seam when the front and side meet for example.
Advanced Member animk Posted January 7, 2021 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 7, 2021 Hope upcoming 3dcoat 2021's node system will be able to do that.
Advanced Member sprayer Posted January 7, 2021 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 7, 2021 (edited) I believe spider man was painted not in 3d space but in 2d on UV, like fabrics layout what is cut from canvas with seamless pattern. You may take a look on marvelous designer how it works Edited January 7, 2021 by sprayer
philnolan3d
I'm just using Spider-Man as an example of what I mean. If I was making a model for 3D printing I can't do it with a painted texture.

You can adjust the sharpness of the seam in the settings next to cubic to make it less blurry, but obviously the seam will still be there. And you can slightly adjust where the seams are. ( think thats a job for zbrush maybe at the moment.) Make a feature of it and put some stitches along the seam. Im looking at this problem right now, but not decided what to do.
