3DCoat 2021 development thread

I remember this issue before, but I suppose it was solved. But now I see this again.:mellow:

I set 2K resolution  (and just customize color of smart material fabric texture then keep to use default textures) , is there way to clean paint this area?

I tried poligon seleciton , mask (with poligon selection) but afer all, when I use FIll with mask, or directly paint smart material with poligon selection, I see this juggy .

Though I suppose if I separate the area as new material (or surfaceI in UV room, I can manage it... because if I fill with material, I do not see this issue.

Or is there way to avoid this issue ? (paint smart material with poligon selection tool on to selected poligon only)

I actually see same issue, with Fill material, between different surface group (material) , is it resolution problem? for this selction I just Fill with surface (material)

in my view...
1. Insufficient UV resolution.
2. UVs are arranged diagonally
I think it might be one of these reasons.

The smaller the UV area, the more noticeable the zig-zag problem of the texture.

Attach an example image.(16 x 16 pixel)
It would be good to test it once.

In Modeling-Room...
Mesh - Sculpt Mesh is not working properly.

If you check this feature, all Poly Groups will appear as Sculpt Mesh, but if you use Unlink Sculpt Mesh, only PolyGroups placed at the top of Poly Groups will be converted to Sculpt Mesh.
(PolyGroup1 for example video)

To switch from a poly model to a sculpt mesh, it is inconvenient to always have to place it on top.

It looks like it needs improvement.
1. Option to convert all Visible PolyGroups to Sculpt Mesh or
2. Individually set Subdivide for PolyGroups and switch to Sculpt Mesh as you want

Hey guys - any recommendation how to use mesh doctor to remove self intersections? I was trying , but some self inters. are gone , but some not or some new intersections are appears

Tried to redefine the key for symmetry. It is kept as expected. On reopening it is kept correctly. Does anyone have problems with shortcuts assignments?

And of course, I work hard over polishing everything. No new features (at least from my side), just accurate polishing everything.

Good afternoon everyone. I just upgraded last weekend and after I installed 3DCoat 2021 I started it up for the first time. And I got this error message. Even after I downloaded the latest version and installed it I started it up and still got an error message. Can someone tell me what's the issue? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for reporting, even if does not crash on my side, I have an idea, check the next build (07) when it will be done (today or tomorrow).

The polygon mode is not antialiased (and never was), but making it antialiased is in plans.

The really best self-intersections remover is voxelizing. Everything else may be questionable (not only because of bugs, but because of the mesh complexity).

Hi,

There is something trouble to cause a crash often on smoothing of voxels/surface, isn't there?

I've experienced that some times in 2021.06.

Now I don't have any scenes to re-produce it, dedicated scene or dump, but if there is any option to send dump or crash report then I'd like to know it.

Thanks for that catch, fixed it in the upcoming 07 build.

The best is to Print screen the crash report on the screen (on Windows) and drop it to this thread. As in one of the previous posts. I am looking all very carefully in this thread.

Very often hangs while autosaving. Very annoying... the same was on 4.9 version.Possible to fix?

 

Were you using "On pen" in the Import tool? In case of massive usage, it may lead to a really long saving time. It is fixed in 06.

In 3dcoat 2021, I've never seen a crash report window's appeared.

Past, 4.x, a crash report which have callstack-like or error messages-like  have been appeared but its characters were unreadable as encoding's completely broken. Because it may be on Japanese Windows(system encoding's problem), I don't know.

20.07.21 2021.07 [stable]


- Fixed multiple problems and inconsistencies related to direct painting over stencils and materials using PreviewOptions->Paint over image

- Tools works correctly in general, with no random lines and other buggy stuff.

- Correct alpha direction

- All modes in E-panel work correctly in image editing mode (that's big deal). Of course curve tools may be used in this mode as well.

- It works correctly with pressure and snapping.

- Materials navigation panel tweaked a bit - edit button inserted for ease of finding the edit feature.

- Correct materials duplication if the color layer was painted manually.

- Correct the direction of the pen in radial stamp mode in all modes - sculpt, paint, uv paint, paint over stencil/material.

Other fixes:

- Fixed potential crash during startup (as reported in this thread).

- Corrected snake tool

- Bake shader with reflections in Light Bake Tool

- Fixed "long memory" issues when render settings or spline objects are migrating between projects.

It was reported before, uninstall do not delete program from the list

I noticed tabletPC produce slowing in viewport, i am using vertical sync, it is always 60fps but noticeable slowing down compare to wintab mode.

could someone explain how to make this work ? "Bake shader with reflections in Light Bake Tool "
