3DCoat 2022 development thread

- Grey out under modal dialogs is optional (Prefs->Theme), it does not shades the BG under color pickers.

Thank you so much ! This was going to be the second most annoying thing for me in 3d-Coat (nothing can beat the annoyance of the right click menu in retopo room).

Hi. I would like to share my experiences with smartmaterials shortly. Exr files work fine for Depth Painting! But you have to set the 'locked depth' something like a hundred times bigger to work. If I compare in my case the depth.jpg with depth.exr, I have to set the 'locked depth' of the jpg to 0.5, whereas the exr file has to be set around 50 to get a compareable result. (The result btw. is less noise which is very good, so it works!) 

One funny thing is, when you press the unlock button, the preview to the right shows correct displacement, and when you press lock, it flips to the wrong side again. 

It would be nice if the exr file preview would work. But I mentioned that already. 

When you Import Materials, you have to create and select the folder before to get it in the right place.

Unless I have misunderstood your question, version 2022.02 should use the 2021 license you purchased.

for ease and speed can we have an option where scaling,extrusions or anything uses a slider ... could we make it so the mouse movement is the slider... positive movement outwards and negative movements inwards

[ Modeling/Retopo Room issue ]

- For the Inset tool, the changed value is applied even if you click Cancel.

It starts working normally again on the same mesh.
I don't know the cause...

- Edge - Collapse is still not centered.

 

[ Modeling/Retopo Room improvement request ]

When using 'Mesh - Sculpt Mesh & Unlink Sculpt Mesh', can you add an option so that it is applied only to the desired polygroup, not the entire polygroup?

In particular, in the case of 'Unlink Sculpt Mesh', it creates unnecessary SculptTrees every time and makes it complicated.

- If you lower the Scale value to make it flat on a specific axis of the Transform (there is no Align function...), the polygon moves very unstable.

In 3DC 2022.03, brush and strength control using RMB doesn't seem to work when using the Blob tool. Can anyone confirm?

Or is this maybe related to the Blob tool not using regular brush stroke types?

Also, I can't get the Transform tool's 2-axis planar scale gizmos to become active for dragging when the layer is obscured by other layers:

It seems to work when the top-most layer of the visible layers is active...

... And when I orbit the scene orientation to view the bottom side of the gizmo, as if the 2-axis plane is only single-sided:

I just downloaded 2022.02 for the Mac.  Am running an M1 MacbookPro Max.  Every time I quit 3d Coat I get a popup "3dCoat has quit unexpectedly".  This happens even I if do nothing more than open and close the app.  

FWIW this did not happen with 2021.70

I've quickly tested out the 2022-04 about the unpaintable pixels using the default robot provided with 3DCoat, I always take this guy as it leads to issues under his shoulder pad's vents (probably curious UVs there). I confirm it's back to what I have using the 4.8.44 (current build I use in production), if not even better =)
In fact, the 4.8.44 had another issue showing "apparently dead pixels", but when you turn off then on the painted layer, most of the time these pixels were no longer grey and the issues fades away. Now, the layer is correct once painted and that's nice =) Thank you guys for fixing this !

Hi guys, just a feedback here, I've just updated from "3DCoatTextura-2021-97" to "3DCoatTextura-2022-04" on PC/Windows, it all seems ok.

Before doing so I recommend making a backup of your current "UserPrefs" folder, mine was in a custom location (W:\3DCoatTextura-2021\UserPrefs) for later copy/paste.

The new version is not adding the year from now on it seems (so no need of the "-2022"). So old paths will eventually break, just keep that in mind and rename accordingly. Thank you for the amazing work!

Добрый день . Версия 2022.4 . При переходе в режим сурфейс пропадает автовыбор слоев и скульптить становится не возможно , так как инструменты прыгают по слоям и не как это не отключить . Или вы перенесли данную возможность в другое меню ?
