Maybe hardware related? These are my specs. Are yours similar @linnos? I don't have the black rendering issue though. I noticed you were using 2021.01. Have you tried latest builds, 2021.06?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X (16) @ 3.900GH

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER

@ebitz Just ran the latest 2021.06 still same issues attached the new log.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X (12) @ 3.800GH

GPU: AMD ATI 0a:00.0 Navi 22 also know as: AMD RX 6700 XT

I don't think it is a hardware issue, it has to be an Ubuntu 21.04 issue. If it was a hardware issue I think only one of us would have it because you have an NVIDIA gpu and I have an AMD GPU.

Either way this is frustrating to deal with.

@SERGYI Not sure if this helps. I was able to generate a core dump file and run in gdb. This is the output.

Thread 12 "3dcoat" received signal SIGABRT, Aborted.
[Switching to Thread 0x7fffd23fb640 (LWP 15998)]
__GI_raise (sig=sig@entry=6) at ../sysdeps/unix/sysv/linux/raise.c:49
