Symmetry Only Working Sometimes in Paint Mode

I'm completely new to 3DCoat, when I try to paint it only works sometimes. When it doesn't work it seems to be when I can't see the other side of the model in the viewport. Can anybody please explain this?

Hi

Do you have any other layers on top that occlude the current layer used for painting ?

Are you using latest version ?

Avoid to use Layer0 for paint, it is used internally for other operations.

Hi, I have some normal maps and an ambient occlusion layer above the layer I'm painting on (not layer0 but thanks for the tip). I'm not sure they would occlude the painting however.

Currently using version 2021.21, a free trial.

Try switching off all layer but active.

Create new project using any default texture paint meshes. Its working ?

Model UVmap, both sides are symmetrical ?

Have the model overlapped islands ?

No result from switching off all inactive layers.

I tried a new project with 3DCoat's own meshes and I'm getting the same problem.

Do you mean is the model symmetrical? Because in some places it isn't perfectly symmetrical.

And actually I did have some UVs overlapping but fixed now. Unfortunately still getting the same problem.
