Member NLPLP Posted January 14, 2023 Member Report Share Posted January 14, 2023 When moving vertices with the select tool (using move select mode), the snapping to surrounding vertices is very inconsistent and in most cases, many tries at multiple angles are needed. After selecting the vertices, switch to the Select/Transform tool, this will give you control over the move

Yes the Select /Transform always highlight the vert nearby but it doesnt snap. Is there something Im missing?

Oleg This tool is more of a global option. I want to be able to select a vert or a number of vertices and have them snap/weld to other vertices when I move them(with the move tool or brush tool) within a prescribed tolerance. Oleg Here s a video of the snapping/merge functionality that Im looking for. Its fairly standard on most modeling apps this is from Blender. Oleg Shapov
You can do the same as in Blender with the Add/Split tool + RMB

It only works 20% of the time on the 2022.57 build
Oleg Shapov
Please send the scene and specify which dots need to be connected. I will test.
Oleg Shapov
Yes, I forgot. Sometimes it helps to increase the radius of the pen for capture. That is, it should not be too small.
Member MJonathan Posted January 17, 2023 Member Report Share Posted January 17, 2023 (edited) Yes, I tried the same with Add/Split Tool RMB, with different radius, and sometimes it woks perfect at first, but other occasions I need to move the perspective camera to snap the vertex. Oleg I restarted 3D Coat and now works as you said. I really love the double functionality of the tool as it lets you create new polys and split existing ones. As a side request for this tool, could you maybe add the functionality of adding a gizmo so that we know where in 3D space we added the point and translate it accordingly ? While I can advise you to use the ZX... hotkey combination to move the point (s) in the plane. Or hotkeys x, y or z to move along the axes

The tool is really awesome as it also helps you layout polys and slice them .... it just becomes cumbersome when you have to perform all these keystrokes to get them where you want I think it would be a much more intuitive option if some gizmo functionality was there. I appreciate all your help and looking forward to help improve this awesome software
