Member myclay Posted January 16, 2023 Member Share Posted January 16, 2023 (edited) When trying to link to MSIX installations, 3DCoat is unable to do so. Msix hides its install location due to Sandboxing. As an example of an affected program, Affinity Photo V2 is an MSIX installation. For those MSIX installs, the user needs to write in the exe filename.in the given example of Affinity Photo it would be as follows; AffinityPhoto2.exe Edited January 16, 2023 by myclay added [Bug] for better naming convention, added info how it would look like for the msix installation of Affinity Photo
Carlosan
This is protected windowsapps directory and users/admins does not have access to this, you need to launch the shortcut from startmenu to run the application.
Member myclay Posted January 16, 2023 Author Member Share Posted January 16, 2023 Yeah that is sadly correct and a massive problem. As of now it´s not working with 3DCoat. Within Blender, you can establish a bridge without specifying the full path, all you need to type in is; AffinityPhoto2.exe The Affinity devs have enabled an alternative (also not working in 3DCoat) the following path systems is probably also a hidden path? C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityDesigner2.exe C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPhoto2.exe C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps\AffinityPublisher2.exe username needs to be replaced with the individual Windows username. Will be able to use Affinity programs as a external tool in 3D Coat and save instead of exporting PSD to update your textures in 3D Coat. Hope this helps. Member myclay Posted January 22, 2023 Author Member Share Posted January 22, 2023 That setting in Affinity is of course relevant for half of the other bridges functionality. Saving over a PSD is indeed needed for getting data back into 3DCoat and this info will be helpful for anyone who stumbles upon this topic. It doesn´t solve the issue of having a direct bridge from 3DCoat to msix installs via invoking the App Execution Alias.
