New Member Nik0 Posted March 30, 2023 New Member Share Posted March 30, 2023 I'm trying to use 3D coat for the first time with my wacom tablet, but I have a slightly weird setup. I have my wacom intouos pro mapped to mouse mode instead of pen mode so that I can use it on 2 monitors without having to force proportions. 3D coat seems to really not like this, it seems to be reading the raw input of the tablet and forces it onto the 3D coat window, which means that my mouse is never clicking where the actual cursor is. This means I click on a spot to paint and the program tries to paint off in space where theres nothing, it does seem to understand that I'm on the model since its not rotating the view but the location of the paintbrush is off in space not painting anything. The weird thing is when I use WinTab(Wacom) pen pressure works but the location is off. When I use WindowsInk the location is correct and it paints where I'm clicking but pen pressure doesn't work anymore (WindowsInk generally doesnt work with mouse mode but it seems to fix the location issue in this case). Is there any way that I can get my wacom to work with mouse mapping in 3D coat? Is there a way to maybe force 3d coat to accept the raw pen pressure input in WidowsInk mode to get pen pressure back, or a way to get WinTab to read the cursor location rather than reading the raw tablet location. Advanced Member Solution online offworld Posted April 27, 2023 Advanced Member Solution Share Posted April 27, 2023 So... I went to edit > preferences > brushing and turned on Show 'Focal Shift' in Top Panel, in case that had something to do with it, and my tablet started working properly again Hilariously, I don't think it _does_ have anything to do with it because when I turn it on or off and adjust its value, the pen placement stays fixed. All I know is that it's working now (even after restarting 3d coat).

Carlosan
Solution: On 9/9/2024 at 2:21 PM, SERGYI said: Please start your tablet troubleshooting from the "3DCoat" framework that is called "TestStroke" for Windows:https://pilgway.com/~sergyi/TestStroke/TestStroke.zip This app is the first stop when narrowing pen-related problems. It contains all the system code without the "3DCoat" tools. Note that Mouse mode is unsupported (Wacom Tablet Properties > Mapping tab > Mode should be Pen, not Mouse). Make the strokes on your tablet and ensure the displayed strokes are correct. The strokes should depend on the pressure. Press keys "1" and "2" to switch between "Wacom" and "WindowsInk" tablet interfaces. Note which of them is working for you. Later, you will select between them in "3DCoat" using Edit > Preferences > Brushing > Tablet Interface. After making sure that the "TestStroke" is working, rename the user data folder "Documents\3DCoat" into something like "--3DCoat". This renaming is crucial because corrupted or incorrect "3DCoat" settings can lead to unlogical behavior of the "3DCoat". After renaming, run the "3DCoat". It will create a new user data folder with default settings. Ensure the tablet works correctly, as in the "TestStroke". Switch in "3DCoat" preferences between "Wacom" and "WindowsInk" in case the "TestStroke" revealed that it was needed. Manually restore your assets from the renamed user data folder into the newly created one.
