Member ijac Posted October 10, 2023 Member Share Posted October 10, 2023 (edited) I have custom hotkeys for most of my retopo tools that I use. I don't use Stack Keys or Sticky Keys. There is a function of Sticky Keys that I really, really dislike. The problem ... I have D assigned to the Points to Polygons tool. When I press D multiple times it switches to the last tool I used, then back to Points to Polygons tool. I hate this When I press D I want to know that it's selecting the Points to Polygons tool and nothing else ... ever. I assume this is part of the Sticky Keys functions. How do I disable Sticky Keys? Thanks for your help Edited October 10, 2023 by ijac
Carlosan
That's not intended behavior, and sounds like a bug. Which build are you using ? There is a workaround which could be useful --------------------------------------- Export hotkeys from [Edit] - [save hotkeys]. Open it with text editor, replace all <AllowStack>true</AllowStack> to <AllowStack>false</AllowStack> And reimport
Member ijac Posted October 10, 2023 Author Member Share Posted October 10, 2023 This post was recognized by Carlosan! ijac was awarded the badge 'Great Support' and 1 points. Thanks for the info. I was seeing this in 2023.16. I just updated to 2023.29 and the behavior is the same. Nothing has changed. I exported the hotkey file and did as you explained. Most were already set to False. Only one was set to True. I changed it to False and reimported the hotkeys. The behavior is still the same. Nothing has changed. It's behaving exactly as described in the official Sticky Keys video ... 3:12 minute mark. This is what I want to disable.

Member ijac Posted March 1, 2024 Author Member Share Posted March 1, 2024 (edited) As of v2024.13 this is not solved. Behavior hasn't changed at all. I have "Don't Use Sticky Key" checked on in Preferences. I restarted 3D Coat after checking it on fyi Edited March 1, 2024 by ijac
New Member marcin92 Posted July 6, 2024 New Member Share Posted July 6, 2024 Seems it is problem for me as well... Tried everything, reinstaling, updating, turning sticky keys in prefs, nothing works, and tool always swaps between last used, while pressing a key twice. Carlosan
which tool exactly ?
New Member marcin92 Posted July 6, 2024 New Member Share Posted July 6, 2024 Hi, basically every tool/hotkey behaves the same. If for example were using a Pose tool, and switching to Sphere tool with a hotkey, hitting it twice will get me back to Pose tool. 1
New Member Facepalm Posted December 10, 2025 New Member Share Posted December 10, 2025 Hello, I am on 3D Coat2025.15 I am experiencing the same issue with ijac and marcin92. Ticking "Don't Use Sticky Key" in Preferences/ General does not seems to take effect. For example: In Voxel Sculpting mode, I bound "C" for Base Clay tool (Redefine) and "P" for Pinch tool (Redefine). Firstly, press "C" to switch to Clay then press "P" to switch to Pinch then if I press "P" again it will switch back to previous tool which is Clay. This happens to other tools as well. Just want to report that the issue is still persisting in 2025.15 If this can be fixed at some point that would be great. Thanks. 1
Advanced Member Mihu83 Posted December 10, 2025 Advanced Member Share Posted December 10, 2025 (edited) I would add other annoying behaviours: 1. 3DCoat is switching tools while you switch between objects, so if I choose Move tool on one object and switch to other object in sculpt tree, it will automatically change tool... absolutely messed up behaviour. 2. Switch between Sculpt room and Render Room and back to Sculpt room will change tool automatically. 3. Retopo room - when switching from Add/Split tool to anything else or switchng between rooms and going back to Add/Split, it won't remember last used type of stroke in that tool... just goes to default.
