Still not solved for me, or back in 2025.10.

To repro:

* Import a single plane (mine is 4mx4m, imported from Blender)

* Paint

Observe as soon as Paint Brush being larger, the Painting experience is slow and lags.

Subdividing the plane helps, as suggested above. 

With any other model that is not a flat plane and has more faces, the problem is either way less apparent, or non existent, and feels workable again. E.g. when selecting any of the template models, like sphere, or Cube. However! Interestingly, with selecting "Tile" object, both of them, either Single Tile or Tiled Tile (bottom right after choosing "Paint UV Mapped Mesh", the problem exist the same way as with the imported plane.

It seems to me 3D Coat has trouble with painting on single flat planes. One could ask: "Why even use single flat planes" -> Reason: Working on Tilable Textures or Trim Sheets/Hybrid Atlases.
