Several question regarding retopo, bake and export

1. Is there possible to select multiple paint layers and retopo layers inside paint room and retopo room? Sometimes I need to edit multiple layers at once, but now I just have to switch to each layer one by one. If no, please consider this a feature requested.

2. When I bake and export, a message saying learning version only allow certain number of polygons to be exported or certain texture will be added with watermarks pops up from time to time. I would need to repeat 2 to 3 times until this problem disappears on its own. I am pretty sure my license is still effective for another couple of months. Is this a bug or error? Using 2023.40.

3. Retopo room becomes extremely slow when polycount exceeds 500K and easily crush when baking model higher than 800K, a number should painlessly operate in other softwares. Is this a normal behavior?

THX.

In next build (2024.15) I will try to solve license problem. I can't reproduce it, but I have idea how to fix it.

1. When working with retopo layers, it is not necessary to select them. All operations are carried out simultaneously on all visible retopo layers. Or you can select an area with selected Faces/Edges/Vertices and work on all retopo layers.

Paint layers can be combined into a group and some joint operations can be done.

If you purchased a license, try updating to the latest version and check it. What type of license do you have?

3. There are plans to optimize performance in retopo/modeling, but still for a heavy mesh it is better to use Sculpting. Retopo for low poly mesh.

1.For example, I want to delete certain layers. Even if I can erase some faces with some tools, it is still hard to do some clearance work with multiple layers, and the layers themselves remain in position which makes sequential bake hard.

2.Rent to own. My payment was completed and there should still be several months of update license left. Can I keep both 2023 and 2024 on a single computer? I am used to work in 2023, and I didnt find an update option letting me do this in 3DC.

3.I did use sculpt mode for highpoly, but I need to move to retopo room to do some autopo and bake. It is hard to work with complex models.

retopo tools wont work on a model that has multiple parts ... the tools will look at it like whats underneath the mesh is what you snap too ...

combine and voxelise so all gaps are filled and only the outside of the mesh is shown, tools will work perfectly after that .. hopefully they fix this soon

also autopo does work really well ... you can never beat doing retopology by hand ..

I understand. I never expect autopo to beat handwork and I dont need autopo to combine voxel objects. What I do have question is that, 500k is hardly lowpoly but it should easily carry on in any 3d soft. Since I am doing some concept works, I dont really want to retopo by hand. In the end, I'll have to seperate the model to several files or, I can bake a part, delete the retopoed mesh, then autopo and bake another if want to have the whole project in one Paint Room(hence the edit multiple retopo layers question). Maybe there are better workflows? I'll be more than thankful if you can link me some instructions or videos.

i dont fully understand your question ... if you can make a quick video ill see what youre currently doing and i can show you another way or more refined way

In short, I just did some autopo and bake. Though because the model is very dense even after decimate and autopo, I simply bake UV set by UV set. Between each bake, I delete previous UV set and retopoed meshes to keep the Room running faster.

In fact, I dont mind the software taking some time calculating and performing Sequential Baking, for as long as it can run the baking slowly and not crush(it crushes when I tried to open projects about 2GB containing Sculpt Retopo and Paint objects). What really concerns me is the slow Retopo Room and crushing. They make future editing ver difficult.

I'll try to find a better workflow. Meanwhile wait for optimization.

The main question - is there (learning) in the window header? Any limitations may appear if (by some reason) the (learning) is in the header.

No. It appears as 3DCoat 2023.40.

But you reminded me. When performing certain operations such as Auto UV Mapping and Bake, as it loads, (learning) appears at the end of header sometimes. I am not sure if this is connected to the issue, because the bake and mapping are most of the time correct.

Is your license floating?
Btw, probably you may use 2024 with your license.

I checked and it's not floating. Validate for free update till November. I'll try to get 2023 and 2024 working together on my computer, then.

BTW, does Coat license require network connection when it's running? If so, the issue may be caused by my VPN or network.

If it is not floating, it does not require the internet connection.

Please send me screenshot/text of license as personal message just to understand what may be the reason.
