I use mainly for texturing, in most cases I prefer it to substance painter. But it needs some love including a better gradient tool & masking based on heightmaps, etc. Tried the retopo workflow, never got great results

i used it recently for retopology but thats about it, its a shame .. the software used to get so many great sculpting updates and performance improvements but hasnt had much in years

to be fair they live in a country that has been at war for years now. I'm sure it disrupts things in a lot of ways. I'm grateful that it is getting updates and I can't wait for the 2025 release.

Yeah... exactly how I feel.

I know the situation can be difficult for the devs and I don't want to bash them too hard, but I feel 3Dcoat hardly got better at least in terms of texturing and sculpting for years. Actually it got worse (e.g. some tweak tools are, for some random, added to painting room's radial menu, making the icons small and hard to click). No layer effect. No proper multires. Old bugs never got fixed.

And now they're focusing on very novel and weird modeling tools...

Honestly Blender has won sculpting game anyway. Once it wins painting game, 3DCoat will be a delightful but distance memory like what Modo is now for many people.

dont get me wrong , i use a wide variety of tools , but for the sculpting its not as controllable as others , but then the primitives and other tools inside the sculpting areas are marvelous! character modelling isnt what i use it for but hard surfaces are amazing and joy to work on and concepting too .

its hard to have proper multires but it works on subd and this software uses voxels or converts everything to triangles so the subdivisions are a hard one,. hopefully one day surfaace mode becomes quads and then a proper multires can be added but they are making lots of progress inn other areas ,

i just look at it as jsut because the update isnt for me then it is for someone , they cant keep everyone happy
