Knife tool doesn't snap to neighboring verts, or edges

Hi!

I just DL-ed the latest version of 3DC 2024.2803 and I encountered this bug with the knife tool where it doesn't snap to nearby verts or edges, but only to some arbitrary elements that are a few polygon distance from my initial snap point. This is true for the retopo room AND the modeling room. I also encountered his in the 2024.26 version. Pls see video.

Hi @Carlosan !

Thanks for the tip. I pretty much went through all the checkboxes that were available and made sense. I even tried a different tolerance setting, but still no luck. Then, I thought, what if the size (or scale) of my model is the problem? I started out with the default lowres sphere that 3DC offers in the start up, but still maybe it's that. I tried resizing the radius of the Brush tool, and discovered that maybe the snap doesn't work within the radius of 1 unit. So if a vert is closer than 1 unit maybe the snap doesn't register it. Could this be the problem? Pls see video again:

Increase the brush radius

Hi @Gorbatovsky Yes, I tried, (increased and decreased brush size) but for the neighbouring verts, or edges it still doesn't work. I'm suspicous of an error occuring under the radius of 1 unit (just my suspicion), pls see video for what's happening. the snapping point appears/disappears when the radius passes a certain threshold (in my case)

Yes, that seems to be the problem. Try increasing the overall scale of the scene.

Thanks Oleg, and all three of you! That worked. I scaled my scene size using the scale master (10x) Nevertheless, maybe someone could look into this, since it feels like a bug imho, snapping to verts or edges should work regardless of the scene size, or model size. What do you think? Thank you all again.

Actually brush size shouldn't even matter (if that's possible too). the snap system for the knife tool would be better if it would be just screenspace based snap distance, and not relying on the other hidden factors.
