If you want to use Reality Capture as a photogrammetry tool in 3DCoat, you need to install it first. It can be installed from Epic Launcher.
If Epic Launcher is not installed on your computer, you can install it from the following link:
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/download

1. Open https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/download in your browser.
2. Click the "DOWNLOAD EPIC GAMES LAUNCHER" button.

The next step is to install Reality Capture from Epic Launcher:
1. In the left menu, select the Unreal Engine tab.
2. In the top menu, select the “Reality Capture” tab.
3. Click on the big blue "Install" button to install it.

Read the agreements and click the "Accept" button to accept them.

At the end, you need to click the “Launch” button to complete the installation and run Reality Capture, only after this step the installation will be completed.

Once Reality Capture is installed, you can create a "Photos/Video to 3D" project in 3D Coat.

Hello,

I'm trying to get this setup, but am not able to use Photogrammetry in 3DCoat. Following the instructions provided:

I have downloaded and installed the Epic Games Launcher.

I have downloaded RealityScan.

I have used Reality Scan as an external app.

I have selected RealityScan as the photogrammetry engine in 3DCoat, and set the path to the engine.

However, I still don't see the options for shots to 3D or video to 3D.  I have checked Windows: Panels: Extensions, and RealityCapture is active.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

Yes, I've been able to run RealityScan 2.0 perfectly fine as a standalone App.  I also have used 3DZephyr for years with no problem.

(I recall correctly, the previous engine 3DCoat used required three different elements to be installed, one of which was CUDA.  My laptop can't install that due to memory restrictions, but if I understand things correctly, that was a separate engine from the RealityScan one.)

I select the 'path to engine', directing it to RealityScan.exe, but there's no indication that it is registering or remembering that.

I've tried setting the path and restarting 3DCoat (and my laptop) several times, but it hasn't helped.

I have noticed what looks like an error message flash along the very bottom of the screen for a split second, but it's too fast to read. Is there any way to check a log?

Hi Carlosan,

Yes, that's the panel I remember from when the photogrammetry room was introduced. I couldn't use it at the time, because I don't have CUDA installed.  (And I don't think my laptop has room for it.)

I thought the RealityScan was a different engine to the initial feature, and hoped that those spec requirements no longer applied, especially seeing as how I can run two other photogrammetry programs (3DZephyr and RealityScan) without it.

Regards,

Derek

I managed to take a screen grab of the error message which flashes up when I enter the Photogrammetry room:

Command failed: $COMBOBOX_PHOTOGRAMMETRY_ENGINERealityCapture

I seem to have got it working.  I installed RealityCapture 1.5.1, and it seems to be happy now. I assumed that as RealityScan had superseded RealityCapture, it would work just the same.  Guess not. Maybe it's too new.  I imagine a future update will see it incorporated.

Thanks for the help.

Мені вдалося зробити скріншот повідомлення про помилку, яке з'являється, коли я входжу до кімнати фотограмметрії:

Команда не вдалася: $COMBOBOX_PHOTOGRAMMETRY_ENGINERealityCapture

The latest version of 3DCoat should work with Reality Scan

I have the latest version of 3dC. Just upgraded & installed ls, and the latest version of Reality Scan, installed fresh from Epic. This runs fine standalone. NVidia drivers are up to date, Cuda is up to date.

Reality Does not work in 3dc. The tool options telling you to install it first & asking for the path to the engine remains on screen. Restarting 3dc & even rebooting makes no difference.

Installing Reality Capture 1.5 as reported above does work.

Since v.08 3DC is compatible with RS 2.0.
Are you using that version or a later one ?

- Initial (first) loading speed issues fixed (related to Python modules loading).
- RealityScan 2.0 is used as the default photogrammetry engine

hi there,

I am unsing latest RealiyScan 2.1 Version with 3DCoat 2025.17 and I am experiencing the same issue as mentioned above:

I can set the path to .exe and nothing happens (even after a restart)

Maybe this is (still) broken?

Cheers
