Pose tool smooth Selection Noise

Recommended Posts

Hello I'm working with voxels in the sculpt room.

When I extrude a section of a mesh using the Pose tool with different selection types I get alot of noise

Doesn't matter if I smooth or not but I usually get a broken result, attached results

Even if I increase the resolution the extrusion always comes up with alot of artifacts

Is there any solution for this? I'm loving this tool but it's so unstable.

Thanks!

Try to smooth selection a little more

and look if you have a stencil selected

Hope this help

Hello Carlosan

Confirmed selection smooth and no stencil selected, attached video to show my problem

Meshes are correctly reset to global space / Uniform space

It happens with dense meshes and lower density meshes, any direction of extrusion, no matter which alpha is used and with no stencil ative

With the default cube (you can also try with that model on a fresh new scene)

After move the faces y pressed enter key

using the same settings and fresh scene, or with new shapes I generate, Extrusion always comes with an error and when working more on the mesh it's more apparent the errors.

Attached demostration

yes, it is the nature of voxels

this extrusion surpass the voxel cage

one solution will be to change resolution to 11M+ or more

but this step is hardware intensive

May I suggest a feature for smoothing the result of the extrusion via pose tool, it's possible to clean with smoothing brushes, but I have to be careful to don't mess up the well defined edges, could be automated to affect only the unmasked part result from the extrusion

thanks for the help!

What are voxels

I am afraid it is not possible.

Voxels produce a virtual grid in 3D space, and the mesh then occupies sections of this grid to form its shape.

Voxel density and resolution

Because the density of the mesh (the amount of cubes into the grid) is absolute and it is not relative, to smooth the geometry of a model you need to increase the density (grid resolution) of the entire model
Under the "Geometry menu > Define Measurement Units" are your voxels per unit and units scale ( not scene scale).

Or you can get a better result working on Surface mode.
This can be done by clicking on the [V] icon next to the particular layer you would like to work the surface of, and it will change to a [S] that represents this “Surface mode”.

Extrude the model using pose tool

and then use Smooth all command

Hope this help
