I had the v4.9 latest amateur version of 3dcoat and researched online before upgrading to the new 2024.31 version. What I read was I could still use my old version after the upgrade but now if I open v4.9 it says its the educational 4.1 version and that my license is being used on another pc and to exit immediately! I was hoping to keep and use my old version 4.9 too. How to get help with this?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi

Contact sales@3dcoat.com asking to delete the link to the old computer and generate a .lic for 4.9 again.

Well I haven't heard back from sales@3dcoat.com so when I checked my account I do see a button that says"FIND MY v4 License" and when I do I get a popup that says to enter my email address or my license number. I enter my email address and then it says "That is your current email".  So I am getting nowhere and it is the email address from years ago that I purchased V4 as I still have the email receipt from 2014 (I think). So I guess it takes a few days as they are busy and also the current situation over there. Just pointing out the things I am running into in case it helps.

Thanks,

Dave

No, it just shows the new 2024 version license. Like I said when I choose to find my V4 license and enter my email address it just says "That is your current email" and all I can do is try again and it says the same thing. Somethings not right. And I just checked it again a few minutes ago.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi again,

Do the people at 3DCoat have another email address I could try as it seems they didn't get my email I sent and I don't know if I should resend to that address (sales@3dcoat.com) again. Or if you could tell me how long I should expect to wait for a response like if the guy is on vacation or something. Or are they that busy with sales and support at the moment.

Thanks,

Dave

I just got the reply from 3DCoat and they said my upgrade disables the old license because you only pay the difference between the old license and the new upgrade. That sucks as my research said I could still use the older version if I upgraded. I would think they wouldn't care if I used the v4x version too as I was used to it and the new versions are different. Thanks for helping out though Carlosan.

Hi Dave

Could you tell me why you still need to use version 4 alongside the latest version?
That would help me provide feedback to the team about license usage.

Well, I have read some things online and in youtube video comments about the newer version maybe having some bugs or is not entirely the same as the older version. I have even read some threads here on the forum with the same concerns from years ago but maybe it;s because I had the Amateur license originally and not the Pro version. So I figured that seeing I researched before the upgrade that I would still be able to use the old version if needed or if I see any missing, or changes that would mess me up. I am no expert and am still learning but it seemed like a good option to have the old version available. Plus I read so much about being able to keep it that I didn't think it was going to be an issue. Anyhow, I do realize I could have installed the old version as well as the new version on more than one computer as long as only one instance is used so I guess I will just do that. Maybe a small fee to allow it would work also. It's only me, my wife (that has no interest in this stuff), and my dog and I am retired so I will not be abusing the license in any way. I'll get over it.

Thanks,

Dave

edit: And all the Udemy courses I bought seem to be from older versions too.
