Hello, Thank you,

No, even new projects are like that. It is actually worst. Much more smart materials are gone. Not just those 2. What can I do ? Re-install ? I hope not.

Those materials are standard which came with the program.

Gone are : all dirt , all dust, leaks, rust 1 and rust 2, scratches_dark, scratches_dark_steel

Are you using 2025.1 ?

If yes it is a bug reported that will be fixed in the next release.

Try downloading latest 2024 version to solve this issue.

I have version 2024.31. My install is about 1 week old. Just bought it.

Windows 11 all updates, with latest RTX drivers.

There is some report of same issue saving textures inside OneDrive folder.

You may relocate 3DCoat's data folder in this dialog. Usually it is on \MyDocuments\3dcoat, but you may place it in any other location.

If you don't use it, the best way is to uninstall onedrive app

Hello Carlo,

I looked. I do not have oneDrive installed. Also not at the time I installed 3D coat.

It is in my default users name"/Documents/3Dcoat" directory. Any other tips how I can get my materials back?

I tried a quick cube in blender, UV auto wrap, send to 3D coat with 3D coat Applink drawn a few lines onto it, then tried dust particles. it works.

Only the smart materials preview globes in the 3D coat the stay black and grey.

This preview problem is still not solved. all imported dirt shaders from your file show as checkerboard. cannot preview.

what i did:

Blender (3.621) use cube, UV auto unwrap, use 3D coat app link to send to 3D coat. Tried above dust particles and other smart materials, they work.

Then delete all dust smart materials. close project, save the project because 3D coat asks for it. Reload 3D coat, import your smart meterial dust as an extention.

Results: as said, no dust preview , preview is as attached picture "black-grey-checkerboard.png

It is ok, dust/dirt have a mask and must be applied on a new layer on top the previous one.

Will be applied over the curvature/cavity of the mesh.

The Material preview looks dark until you paint over the mesh (it is a bug and will be solved soon)

It is not a problem (the black Preview is a bug and is in the todolist to be solved)

Edit the Smart Material to understood how it works

dust/dirt are SMaterials based on Conditions, dust_2 like example only act on More on Top and More in Shadow

The squares means that this SMaterial don't affect the overall shape of the mesh but cavity/curvature.

"conditions" refer to paint masking options that allow you to restrict painting to specific areas of a model based on surface curvature, lighting, or other criteria.
