Question

Hello, I am following a simple crocodile course to create the snout of the animal. I then just use the pose tool, then pull the end a bit vertical. But as you can see, I cannot select all the voxels. The middle part does not get selected, whatever settings I try.

What am I missing here? What settings must be changed?

Bug pose tool update:

I found out when it exactly happen.

I do not have a short cut key bind to option "ignore back faces"

So I have to go to menu and click it every time.

When you use pose tool, and you go to menu to click the checkerboard button to disable or enable "ignore back faces.

Bug happen when this happens:

The tool get disselected right after you click "disable or enable "ignore back faces" This is the moment you are not actually changing the pose tool setting for selecting or not selecting the back faces.

Bug does not happen if:

If you have pose tool selected, and you go to menu to change "ignore back faces." and pose does is still selected.

It happens because I click the rectangle. To access the setting "ignore back faces." you must not click this, just mouse over it!

Hello! Your sculpture has an irregular shape. You need to click To Global Space or To Uniform Space. RMB menu on the sculpture.

This is the reason why there should be a beginner course. This course has thousands of settings. If only someone would just link it in the beginning of the program start and direct to the most important settings and lessons, that will boost beginner users very fast. And will help 3D coat to get a better name fast. I have been struggling for more than a week, hardly done anything. bit by bit the important things I learn, like now.

Will give this a try and change to global space.

Symmetry enabled, Global space:

No use, program change to local space by itself. after I do transform. When it was a ball it was in global space. So I am not ssure how this global and local can help me.

The problem repeat itself again. I tried switching between local and global. But the pose tool cannot choose the whole under side of the ball, as you can see it shooces 2 parts, and the middle is not chosen. I am truly clueless how this program works. With or without symmetry one, both ways pose tool cannot choose everything across.

Use square select tool. Any please? help? project is attached again. What setting in my 3D coat is wrong?

Found solution. I think it is a bug must be.

I changed the selection tool settings as seen in attached picture. increasing them, decreasing them, then set to zero. And voila . I can select everything now. Ignore faces is off, mirror is on. without mirror also can choose everything.

But, I got a new problem: now I can select also the voxels that I cannot see, Even if I enable option "ignore back faces"

Does not matter what setting, now I always select everything around a ball, also voxels I cannot see.

Help please : I found a new bug.

On YouTube channels you can find a lot of free content for beginners about 3Dcoat from different 3D bloggers. In 2017, this really helped me in my studies.

many thanks Oleg. You are right that there is a lot of videos. I still have to do a few more tutorials. before I can sculpt. :vava:

No pain no gain. Will require a lot of time. But that we all know.

If you have a few good ones, please share. :good:

Unfortunately they were in Russian. But even in Russian I found many lessons for a beginner.

I'm working through Anton Tenitsky's "Intro to 3D Coat: From Noob to Cook" course on Udemy right now. It's not perfect, but it's reasonably up-to-date and pretty comprehensive...better than *anything* I've found on YouTube.
